About the federation
A bridge between Gujarat and Gujaratis everywhere
The Global Gujarati Federation was established in Ahmedabad in 2014 to bring together Gujaratis living beyond the borders of Gujarat, across India and around the world. More than 500 community organisations now represent Gujaratis through this network.
Overseas Gujaratis carry more than financial wealth. They hold global knowledge, professional expertise and hearts that continue to beat for Gujarat. The federation connects that capability with the development of Gujarat's villages, students, women and families who need it most.

2014
The federation begins
Founded in Ahmedabad. The first gathering, Dariyapar Ma Gurjari no Jaijaikar, was held on 11 January at Govardhan Smriti Bhavan, followed by the first NRI Salute India Awards presented by Elaben Bhatt.

2018
The awards grow
The Salute India NRI Awards continued with Sadvichar Parivar in February, and the NRI Setu Ratna Awards began in Vadodara that November, honouring those who serve as bridges between India and the diaspora.

2024
Vishvmanvi Gujarati Mahotsav
A three day festival in Ahmedabad: NRI felicitations, the WAAH science awards, story writing honours, and a seminar with the editors of Gujarati publications from London, the USA and Mumbai.

The Global Gujarati Conference
Gujaratis from 130 countries and every Indian state, gathering in Ahmedabad for the largest meeting of the global Gujarati family ever held.
