The Global Gujarati Federation exists so that no Gujarati, anywhere in the world, is out of reach of home.
The story
It started with one gathering
On 11 January 2014, Gujaratis from across the world came together at Govardhan Smriti Bhavan in Ahmedabad for Dariyapar Ma Gurjari no Jaijaikar, a celebration of Gujarat beyond its borders. The next day, the first NRI Salute India Awards were presented by Elaben Bhatt. The Global Gujarati Federation was born out of those two days.
Since then the federation has honoured the diaspora's bridge-builders every year, brought editors, scientists and storytellers of the Gujarati world onto one stage, and grown into a network of more than 500 community organisations.
Overseas Gujaratis carry more than financial wealth. They hold global knowledge, professional expertise and hearts that continue to beat for Gujarat. The federation's work is to connect that capability with the villages, students, women and families of Gujarat who need it most.

Keep every Gujarati connected to Gujarat
Unite Gujarati organisations across the world into one family, honour the people who serve as bridges between India and the diaspora, and turn the global community's goodwill into real work on the ground in Gujarat.
Vision 2035
Primary education for every child of Gujarat
The federation's long-term commitment: by 2035, the global Gujarati family helps ensure that every child in Gujarat completes primary education. The 2027 conference is where this movement takes shape.

From one hall to the whole world

2014
The federation begins
The first gathering at Govardhan Smriti Bhavan, and the first NRI Salute India Awards at the JB Auditorium, presented by Elaben Bhatt.

2018
The awards grow
The Salute India NRI Awards continue with Sadvichar Parivar in February, and the NRI Setu Ratna Awards begin in Vadodara that November.

2024
Vishvmanvi Gujarati Mahotsav
A three day festival in Ahmedabad: NRI felicitations, the WAAH science awards, story writing honours, and a seminar with editors of Gujarati publications from three continents.

The network widens

The Global Gujarati Conference
6, 7 and 8 February 2027 at Shri Bhagwat Vidyapith, Sola, Ahmedabad. Gujaratis from 130 countries and every Indian state, in one place.
